About Vito & Krys

In June 2007, Vito Loconte was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Gliblastoma.  He spent about eight months in Beaumont Hospital, with a good chunk of that time in ICU.  When Vito was able to come home, he was unable to care for himself.  He relied on his wife, Krys to take care of the most basic functions of his life, who continued to work full-time and care for their then seven year old daughter, Alexa.  Vito has been confined to his bed and has lost almost all use of his left arm and leg.  After more than a year of therapy, he was able, with help, to get into his wheelchair.  About two months ago, Vito fell while transferring himself from the bed to the wheelchair, breaking his hip.  He underwent surgery and is now at Botsford Commons, in the rehabilitation wing.  Unfortunately, Vito's return home is uncertain since no one is able to care for him.

Tragedy struck again on August 8, 2010 when Krys
, complaining of a terrible headache, was admitted to Botsford Hospital. Shortly after, doctors discovered a blood clot located on the right side of her brain, forcing them to transfer her to St. John's Hospital in Grosse Pointe.

Currently, Krys is still in ICU at St. John's hopsital after suffereing two strokes.  Her recovery and the severity of the brain damage caused by the strokes are still uncertain.

Please look through the rest of this site, and consider joining her family and friends for a fund raising spaghetti dinner on September 18, 2010.
